about Ben Weiner.

I can't get enough of drawings and paintings of slight exquisite details recreated on a larger scale.

Although my work mainly revolves around the beauty seen in nature and through out the fashion industry, I draw my greatest inspiration from architecture, industrial and product design.

FLKS-a flexible workplace

Dutch designers Kapteinbolt has created a flexible workplace, called FLKS. The furniture features a desk and chair that fold out from two hinged sheets. Design firm Kapteinbolt says:
"We like to introduce FLKS (flex), a flexible workplace. Just open the panels unfold the table and the chair and put the plug in for light. The legs from the table and the chair are provided with special designed joints, pull and turn 90°.

As much as I wish I knew what to do with the beautiful fragments of fabric and paper(a.k.a trash) left behind after completing a piece of clothing, collage or drawing, nothing I had dreamt up comes close to Andrea Myers's work.

Within my artistic practice, I maintain an interest in exploring the space between the two- dimensional and three- dimensional, hybridizing painting, printmaking and sculpture. I feel my work is dependent upon various processes, such as cutting as drawing, the relationship between deconstruction and construction, and the inherent malleability and vulnerability of my chosen materials, namely fabric and paper. I identify myself as a painter who constructs painterly sculptures and installations. I am interested in using painting as a matrix to work against and to stretch into the realms of other mediums. I look to painting to inspire color and form, and extract the formal qualities to reinvent the boundaries of painting.

I really like this piece from this collection too..

A site specific temporary outdoor installation, the surfaces of the fragmented pieces are meant to reflect the canopy of the forest, while also suggesting references such as a broken mirror or glass, cracks in topography or a sprawl of islands.

Although I primary work solo, I fell I've learned the most from collaborating with friends/fellow creative minds who work with a different set of tools.

To me, collaboration always results is a win-win situation.

I don't like to sew. I reallllly don't like to sew.
I only choose to sew if I have envisioned something I must create(..like jewelry or a bag of my own design) and I'm in the mood. I love to draw because when I plant my black pen on the page I get instant gratification. I have complete control over the piece's success or failure.

When I'm sewing I have to find a 'nice' machine to work with, approach the machine with caution, make sure it has what it needs/wants to function and then I can proceed with my project. For me, 87% of the time the machine throws a tantrum and what should take moments to finish takes hours...or days.
School has taught me this.
This is why I don't like to sew and which is why I have a great deal of respect for those who have mastered it and can literally sew fibers into works of art. Although the machine creates the piece, the design of the textile gives life to it.

Exquisite textiles, such as these, are what makes the fashion world go round.

Innovative textile design dramatically influences and inspires style trends and collections far beyond the fashion industry.

When first I came across Marit Fujiwara's work (awhile back via the lovely Ms. Susie Bubble ) I couldn't quite grasp its exquisite detail. My eyes had to take it in doses and it took quite some time for my eyes to adjust to it's many levels.
Her work is gloriously 'overworked' and has incredible flow. Creating such soft, organic and 'light' beauty is rarely accomplished from textiles with sooo much depth and detail.
This is what makes her a master of her craft.
I agree Susie, All Hail Marit Fujiwara.

Creative minds think alike and when they come together with a common

vision in mind, sparks tend to fly.

Meet the french design/photo duo Thomas Couderc and Lenient Vauchez behind Helmo.

From what I can understand (with the help of a translator), in 2002 Thomas Couderc, Lenient Vauchez and Thomas Dimetto worked together. But in 2007, they split and Thomas Couderc and Lenient Vauchez created Helmo, while Thomas Dimetto developed Tburo.

"Bêtes de mode" (Beasts of fashion), created by Helmo, are some of my favorite images of 2009/10.

These are magnificent. They unify my greatest inspiration/s.

The new year is here and I thought it was finally time to clean up/clean out some of my digital archives. Below are the needles I found in my hay stacks of images and sites I've randomly accumulated over the past few months.

In 2010 I hope to find myself in Dubai. Dubai's cityscape is growing beautifully and I'd love to see it all with my own eyes. The recently built GEOtube (in Dubai) is one of my favorite buildings.

I fell in love with the GEOtube's exquisite detail but what I found even more amazing was that its appearance actually reflects the goings on inside.

Tres coolio. Tres coolio indeed.

This piece by Fabio Viale piece is amazing. I love every inch of it. The concept is brilliant. I love creating intangible dimensions with mirrors.

There are very few CreativeMinds that I've come across that have welded my fantasies into reality but David Wiseman has done it! He had me at Branch Chandelier. What sets Mr. Wisemans work apart from most CreativeMinds is that, at such a 'young' age, hes created quite a successful business around his passion. Until I have the $$$$, I'm looking forward to buying some his work.

Because I set goals for myself throughout the year, during New Year's I like to remember the experiences I was blessed with throughout the past year.

Although its good to have a set of goals, I believe its good to also allow for and get involved in as many curve ball experiences/job opportunities as possible. More than accomplishing any goal/s it's the new people you meet, beautiful places you see and exotic food you eat, through those experiences, that will change your life.

Everyday in 2010 I would like to continue to take steps forward towards my short and long term goals and to spread creativity, positivity and love to everyone.

And I hope you do the same.

To me, these lovely ladies are all-stars and my creative mind could not survive without them. Now that I'm finito with school, I have a lot more time to sniff out the creative minds that post their work along with creative minds they too hold near and dear.

Its a bit of a challenge to complete pieces, that are in the works, when I fall in love with and get distracted by so many beautiful references within the blogosphere. I try not to delve too deeply in to these labyrinths of cute girls in cute clothes doing/making cute things in cool places but sometimes these blogs are just too good to overlook. Before I started to really look for and through the thousands upon thousands of blogs from all over the world, I would pay an embarrassing amount of money to walk away from magazine stands with the same quality of references for my work. I still am quite the international fashion, architecture and industrial design magazine junkie, but these lovely blogs are saving me a lot of money.

In the past month or so I've been lucky enough to come across many new faces and I try to consume their work/posts on the daily.

So yeah, thanks ladies for doing what you love to do and sharing it with the rest of the world.

Sir 13thWitness has got a blog, a photostream, a homebase, and some videos that are pretty outta sight. He follows some cool cats about their town and documents their passion for hittin the streets with their favorite mode of transportation. I love that he gets it all on video..i mean Viemo and I love the way he compiles his footage. His 'Underground Vibes' video makes me want to finally learn how to skateboard. But I think that'll just have to wait till 2010. I have a feeling 13thWitness isn't going to slow down with making videos anytime soon (he finished two in a month), so look out for him in a town near you, he juusttt may be rollin through.

I love window displays x installations

I love companies that pride themselves on their larger than life and innovative window displays.

I especially love it when companies collaborate with note worthy artists to bring attention to both the artist and the store/merchandise. Apparently, Maison Hermes feels the same. Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka's new installation for Maison Hermes is one for the books. It's based off a previous window display he presented in 2004. The display can be seen until January 19th 2010.

“On designing a window-display of Maison Hermès, I intended to express people’s daily ‘movements’ with a suspicion of humor. There are moments when I perceive a hidden presence of a person in the movements born naturally in daily life. I created a design where one can perceive someone behind the scarves as if life were being breathed into them. The window is designed with an image of woman projected onto a monitor. The scarf softly sways in the air in response to the woman’s blow.” – TY

Window displays are meant to draw the consumer into the store to shop shop shop and spend spend spend. But with a display this cool, I think they'll find customers prefer to watch the installation over browsing the $$$$$ merchandise.

I came across this master minds work when I did some cyber hunting on a new line of jewelry being released by Vendom. Like the Tiffany+Frank Gehry collaboration, the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma and Ma,Yu have join forces and released a line of jewelry called . The
intricate pieces are small reincarnations that draw from details seen in Kuma's structures. The collection is simply divine and I'm so glad to now be acquainted with both the collection and the architect.

"Kuma's goal is to "recover the tradition of Japanese buildings"and to reinterpret it for the 21st century"1 and he finds inspiration from light and nature. To put it simply, I love all of his designs and hope to visit some of his work one day.

The link had an interactive panorama of the bike shop at 360cities.com. I, of course, ventured further and couldn't believe what I found next. The world is at you finger tips at 360cities.net.

My mission is to pass along sites, blogs, music, people, places and products I've come upon that I feel is outta sight. I love it when creative minds join forces to create new platforms for other artists to stand upon.

I also love graffiti art and those artists who take their work to the streets so it can be seen and enjoyed (for FREE) by everyone. However there are many who do not share my opinion and use their high political position to stomp upon the creative minds who only wish to illuminate the street with beauty through out the world.

...unless the aRtwork is commissioned..but once the piece is assigned and has had to be approved by committee after committee..its just not the same...

I can't exactly say that these artists are entirely outta sight because if you've been lucky, you might have already seen their work while walking down you street.

This is Nicoline Patricia Malina.

She was born in Surabaya, Indonesia and studied Fine Art and he artistic talent later led to Fashion photography. Since 2005 shes been working for clients all over the globe.

In this past year she won the "Young Photographer of The Year" award at the 2009 ELLE Style Awards.

This past week I across this gentleman's lively rhymes and lovely beats.

But this Washington D.C. based rapper and self proclaimed "Ambassador of Rap for the Capital", has apparently been around for quite some time.

I dig every song hes put out and been featured in. I can't wait till his next show in LA.

I love all of Joe Ratcliffe 's work.

I love that he pushes and expresses his artistic perspective in more than just one genre. Typography design. Illustration. Paintings...

I believe the more the genres you experiment in..the better.

I came across his work when I was reference hunting in the valley of cyberspaces and hes now apart of my 'love dis artist' collection.
